March 2, 2007 - House Concert in Spring Valley, New York

As I have said before - everyone musician who has performed here over the last two years has been incredible.  Last night was no exception.  Bernadette Lawrence and her soulful band were so "on" - uplifting, invigorating, so much fun, we laughed, we danced, we clapped, we couldn't stop smiling.  We were so grateful for the way she shared her inner and outer beauty with us.  It was an amazing evening.  I've attached photos so maybe you can get a feel for how it was.

REVIEW ON ROOTS MUSIC REPORT

It is not very often that Reggae and Rocking Blues music come together on one CD. Be glad they did on Bernadette Lawrence’s CD “Try Romance”.  Be very glad!  This is feel-good, romantic music at its best.Lyrically, Lawrence is right on. Seven of the ten tracks on the CD are originals and they impressively reflect her talents as a songwriter. The songs are powerful and soothing at the same time and they are rich and vibrant-obviously products of the heart. Vocally, Lawrence is first rate. Take those awesome, inspired lyrics and present them via Lawrence’s rich voice which is nothing short of captivating and you have got one magnificent piece of art. This CD will be a sure hit with women audiences, filled with strong vocals, great tunes and lots of romance.  Her clear melodic voice combined with the unique Caribbean rhythms will have you swaying, smiling and wanting more and wanting to Try Romance.

I had the pleasure, along with other happy ears, of enjoying a free, live performance from songstress Bernadette Lawrence Friday past, October 13, 2006, at Borders Book Store in Manhattan.

There was nothing superstitious about Ms. Lawrence's flawless performance of featured songs from her current CD, "Try Romance". Accompanied by a talented ensemble which included a keyboardist, a percussionist, bass player, and a female background singer, Ms. Lawrence demonstrated her overall strong and amenable performance skills to the sheer delight of those in attendance.

The songs ranged from the smooth & thought-provoking title track, "Try Romance", to the foot-tapping, melody-flavored, "All Bets Down". I purchased the CD & was treated to the same flawless vocal renderings and crisp arrangements. I would highly recommend this CD for those whose tastes in music include jazz, dance, adult contemporary.

I went to see Bernadette Lawrence sing at Borders Books & Music last Friday. It was a fantastic show and I loved it. I was impressed with her style and quality of lyrics which is so refreshing especially in these times . I went away with chills looking forward to the next event. My mom and I drove four hours to be at the show and we were delighted with Bernadette’s voice range and outstanding stage presence.
